The Higher Valley Institute of Engineering and Technology was honored to have a distinguished group of architecture and design students participate in the competitions announced by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) as part of the "Visions of Housing" competition, in preparation for Egypt Urban Week 2026 – The Road to the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) from Cairo to Baku.
Third-year students (Nada Hatem, Shaza Salah, Rodina Hatem, Asmaa Sami, and Amr Elsayed) participated in the photography competition on community-based and innovative housing, "The Handcrafted City: Innovation by the People, for the People."
The students' participation in the second UN-Habitat competition, "Designing Innovative, Low-Cost, and Resilient Housing Solutions," demonstrated an outstanding level of collaboration among students from different academic levels. This practical experience combined academic skills with a future-oriented vision for sustainability and a commitment to international standards. The participating students were:
• Third-year students: Nada Hatem, Shaza Salah, Rodina Hatem, Asmaa Sami, and Amr Elsayed.
• Level 4 students: Ziad Khaled, Hussein Al-Husseini.
• Level 5 students: Aya Zaghloul, Ahmed Atef, Saeed Mohamed, and Mohamed Yasser.
